Data shows that the nationwide container throughput of Chinese ports increased slightly by 1.7% year-on-year to 91.04 million TEU from January to April this year.
The Ministry of Transport of China recently released the nationwide cargo and container throughput data in April 2022. The data shows that the nationwide container throughput of Chinese ports increased slightly by 1.7% year-on-year to 91.04 million TEU from January to April this year. 4.905 billion tons of cargo throughput of Chinese ports were completed in January-April, an increase of 0.2% year-on-year, including the completion of foreign trade cargo throughput of 1.486 billion tons, down 4.2% year-on-year.
Regarding cargo throughput of Chinese ports, the first place is the Port of Zhoushan, Ningbo, with a port cargo throughput of 414.29 million tons from January to April, a year-on-year growth rate of 4%. The second place is the Port of Tangshan, 236.76 million tons, with a year-on-year growth rate of 1.5%. The third place is the Port of Shanghai, with 212.62 million tons, down 5.4% year-on-year.
As for the container throughput of Chinese ports, the first place is the Port of Shanghai, with a port container throughput of 15.35 million TEU from January to April, with a year-on-year growth rate of 1.9%. The second place is the Port of Tangshan, with 10.94 million TEU, a year-on-year growth rate of 5.2%. The Port of Shenzhen's third place with 9.1 million TEU, down 4.9% year-on-year.
According to the Ministry of Transport of China data, the Port of Shanghai remains the busiest container port in China and the world, ranking second and third are still the Port of Ningbo and the Port of Shenzhen. However, the container throughput of the Port of Shenzhen has decreased compared to last year.
