Savannakhet Port (port code: LASAV / LASA3) is Lao’s first dry port. It is strategically positioned along the Greater Mekong Subregion East-West Economic Corridor, at the mid-point between the nearest Vietnamese seaport of Danang, and Thai ports in Bangkok and Laem Chabang.
The port is a free trade zone with onsite customs clearance, inventory tracking and quality control, and provides for transfer, transshipment, and distribution services. It is operated by Savan Logistics Co., Ltd, and connects Laos to the world by linking with the East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC) between Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
At present, a variety of services is on offer at the dry port by Savan Logistics including a free trade zone facility with easy re-exporting procedure, deferral and reduction of container duties as well as improved compliance, inventory tracking and quality control.
Most importantly, the dry port provides an unlimited storage time for its customers. One of the outstanding services is that on-site customs clearance can be done all at once for both imports and exports.
