Rabat (MARBA)

Overview:

      Port of Rabat (Port of Rabat, city port code: MARBA). Rabat’s port and the surrounding city are rich and prosperous agricultural areas, with a vast hinterland, but the estuary sediments have been silting up year by year, and the port’s shipping role in the Mediterranean area has diminished. National land transportation and textile industry center. Railways and highways are connected to Darbeda (with highways), Marrakech and Safi in the south; Tangiers in the north; and Fez and Oujda in the east and neighboring countries Algeria and Tunisia. There is an international airport in the south of the city . The textile industry and handicraft industry are known for producing blankets, carpets and leather products. There are fruit, fish processing and other food industries and brick, asbestos, ceramics, wood and cork processing and many other manual and semi-manual small enterprises. The city is divided into two parts: the new city and the old city. The old city is distributed along the river. There are ancient Muslim towns and Jewish quarters, many Arab-style buildings, surrounded by city walls, narrow streets, dense residents, many handicrafts, and traditional ethnic markets are prosperous. The new city is located north and east of the old city. It is the seat of government agencies, finance, commerce, scientific research and other institutions. It has many modern buildings and wide streets. National Cultural Center. There are many cultural relics in the city. There are Rabat Royal Palace, Kasbah Udaya Castle, Moroccan Art Museum, Archaeological Museum, Antiquities Museum and many mosques; the oldest mosque is Hassan Mosque in the southeast of the city, built in 1195. The University of Rabat is the highest institution in Morocco. The climate is mild throughout the year, the coastal scenery is beautiful, and the cultural relics are attractive. It attracts a large number of foreign tourists and is the main tourist center along the coast of Morocco.
