Port of Porto Empedocle (Port Code: ITPEM) is a port situated 45nm from Gela, in southern Sicily. As an important fishing and trade port in southwestern Sicily, it is formed by two breakwaters, inside of which a small craft pier divides the harbour into two basins. It has two operative wharves: banchina Sciangula and banchina Todaro. The port has facilities for general cargo and bulk, including minerals, fertilisers, ammonia, Ro-Ro and passenger ferries. Imports mainly include cement, sand, steel pipes, wines, OCD. Exports are mineral salt, cement, pet-coke.
