Double-deck container trains depart to the ports of New York and Chicago every week. The bulk cargo terminal has a mobile electric loading machine with a loading speed of 5,000 tons per hour. The open-air cargo area of ​​the port area reaches 1.8 million square meters. The area of ​​the Hong Kong Foreign Trade Zone is 42,000 square meters. In 1994, the container throughput reached 2.573 million TEUs, an increase of 23.8% over 1993, surpassing the neighboring port of Los Angeles and ranking first in the United States. This is the first time the port has won the championship since 1984. An important reason for the double-digit growth of the port's container throughput is that the Danish Maersk Line opened a dedicated terminal in the port. In 1992, the cargo throughput reached 72.44 million tons, which was 3.6% lower than that in 1991. The main export goods of the port are iron ore, coal, petroleum products, grains, waste paper, butter, citrus, cotton, leather and chemicals, etc. The main imported goods include petroleum, steel, electrical appliances, wood, machinery, Salt, plastics, products, newsprint, clothing, cars, gypsum, dried coconut, banana, plywood, coconut oil, glass, etc. The main trading partners are Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea, China, Thailand, Mexico and Indonesia.
