      La Ceiba is a port city on the northern coast, Honduras in Central America. It is located on the southern fringe of the Caribbean and forms part of the southern-eastern border of the Gulf of Honduras. With an estimated population of over 200,000 living in approximately 170 residential areas  (called colonias or Barrios), it is the fourth largest city in the country and the capital of the province of Honduras, Atlantida. La Ceiba was formally established on August 23. In 1877, the city was covered by a huge and named kapok tree near the old pier near its predecessor, which itself finally fell into the sea city at the end of 2007. It has officially declared the "Eco-Tourism Capital of Honduras" "And as "Honduras Entertainment Capital". Every year on the third or fourth Saturday of May, the city holds its famous carnival to commemorate the laborers of Isidore ( San Isidro Labrador , Spain ). During this period, there were approximately 500,000 tourists in the city.

La Ceiba (Port code:HNLCE) is one of the Honduran’s major Caribbean ports developed in the late 19th century as a banana port. Besides bananas, the port handles pineapples, citrus fruits, coconuts, abacá fibre, fish, meat, coffee, and lumber. 
La Ceiba is located on the Atlantic coastline of Honduras, close west of Punta Congrejal, at the mouth of the river of the same name.The port is a port of entry and one of the main Honduran ports for the export of fruit and timber, mainly used by refrigerated dry cargo vessels carrying exported bananas and also by small coastal traders.
