The Port of Iraklion/Heraklion is also translated as the Port of Heraklion. It is located at the southeast end of Greece, on the south side of the AEGEAN. The north coast of the island of Crete. Located at the intersection of the entrance of the Sui Canal in the southeastern corner of Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean trade route, the geographical position is superior.

Heraklion Port has a subtropical Mediterranean climate, with more westerly winds in winter and dry and hot summers. The annual average temperature is about 5℃ in January and the highest in July is about 27℃. The annual average rainfall is about 700mm.

The port area of ​​Heraklion Port is surrounded by two breakwaters, with a water area of ​​590,000 square meters. The shoreline of the main wharf is about 2500m long. The maximum water depth is 9.1m. Loading and unloading equipment includes various shore cranes, portable cranes and tugs. The largest ship that has ever entered the port is 16,000 deadweight tons. The North Breakwater is a newly expanded port area that can dock ships with a minimum draft of 12.1m. The main imported goods are grains, machinery, coffee, sugar, tea, milk and groceries, and the main export goods are citrus, wine, raisins and olive oil. Homework can be arranged during holidays, but 75% of overtime pay is payable. Due to the superior geographical location of the port, the Port Authority intends to build this port into a container transshipment port and is currently building a container terminal with a throughput capacity of 200,000 TEU .
