Eemshaven port (port code: NLEEM) is a deep-water tidal port in Netherlands. It is newly developed and located on reclaimed land, at the mouth of the River Eems and near the main North Sea shipping routes.
The harbour area consists of a central channel, the Doekegatkanaal, and three basins, Julianahaven, Emmahaven and Wilhelminahaven. There are facilities for handling break bulk, containers, and dry bulk.
The port handles general cargo, bulk and also the loading and discharging of edible products, reefer cargoes and unitised traffic. Approximately 700,000t of cargo and 500,000 passengers are handled annually.
About 230 vessels visit this port each year, among which around 45% are cargo vessels. The maximum length of the vessels recorded to having entered this port is 296 meters. The maximum draught is 13.8 meters. The maximum deadweight is 81,921t.
