East London port (port code: ZAELS) is a medium-sized river port in South Africa. It is situated at the mouth of the Buffalo River, on the southeast coast of South Africa (between Port Elizabeth and Durban).
The port has 13 berths able to accommodate all types of cargoes and a drydock for any form of ship bottom repair. It handles approximately 2.3 million tons of cargo and 67,700TEU annually. The main imports are vehicles, vehicle components, petroleum products, maize, machinery, chemicals, and hardwood. The principal exports include vehicles, scrap metal, maize, confectionery, prepared pineapple products, timber and chemicals.
