Vietnam's military port and commercial port.It is located in dankang Bay in the central part of the country, northeast of the city and adjacent to the South China Sea.It is 143 nautical miles from Donghai port in the northwest, 236 nautical miles from bianshui port in the north, 310 nautical miles from Haiphong port in the north, 329 nautical miles from North China port, 178 nautical miles from Basuo (Dongfang) port in Hainan Island, 185 nautical miles from Guiren port in the southeast, 279 nautical miles from Yazhuang port, 1037 nautical miles from Singapore port in the southwest, and 509 nautical miles from Hong Kong in the northeast.There is an airport nearby.Da Nang is horseshoe shaped. It is formed by the concave land bank, the promontory in the West and the island like Camellia Peninsula in the East. It is about 8 nautical miles from north to South and 6 nautical miles from east to west. The bay mouth faces northeast, only about 3.5 nautical miles.The Bay has a wide water area and a hidden depth. It can berth all kinds of ships. It is a good natural harbor. In the southeast of the Bay, the Hanjiang River flows into the bay to the north.The main wharves of the port are: harbor wharf, which is located at the west end of Shancha peninsula on the east coast of the bay. There are several arm shaped jetties, one of which has a line of 250 meters, and the water depth of the front is 9.1 meters below the chart datum level. Others are still under construction.Hanjiangkou wharf is said to be 2235 meters long, but only 4.7 meters deep. Most of them are concentrated on the West Bank, mainly for military use, and only 350 meters for commercial use.There are three floating berths in Xiangang Bay, two of which are nearer to the shore and the water depth is only 6.0-6.2 meters. The other one is close to the center of the Bay and the water depth is 11 meters. There is an oil pipeline connecting the land bank.My Khe offshore oil berth is located off the east coast of Hanjiang River, covered by Camellia Peninsula, with a water depth of 13 meters.Up to the mid-1980s, there was no bulk cargo terminal or container handling equipment in Hong Kong, but there were roll on / roll off slopes. Danang, also known as Tourane, is the capital of Guangnan Danang province.

Da Nang port (port code: VNDAD) is a principal port of central Vietnam and is of importance being the outlet from the coal mines at Nang Son, 35 nautical miles up river. It is situated on the South China Sea in the Gulf of Tonking, approximately 390 nautical miles north-northeast of Ho Chi Minh City.
The port occupies 1.2 thousand hectares with a depth of from 10 to 17 meters at Danang Bay, containing a total of 1493 meters of berths in two major areas: Tien Sa Terminal and Song Han Terminal.
The port contains a total of 1493 meters of berths in two major areas: Tien Sa Terminal and Song Han Terminal. Tien Sa Terminal is a natural deep-water port with depths from 10 to 12 meters, being able to accommodate general cargo vessels to 45 thousand DWT, container vessels to two thousand TEUs, or passenger vessels to 75 thousand GRT. Song Han Terminal, located on the Han River near Da Nang city, offers five berths at a total 528 meters long and a draft of 0.7 meters.
The port has capacity to handle up to five million tons of cargo per year. The annual throughput capacity at Tien Sa Terminal is 4.5 million tons and Song Han Terminal has capacity to handle one million tons of cargo per year.
The port handles approximately 19,500 passengers, 3.9 million tons of cargo and 114,000TEU annually. The principal cargo handled include general cargo, bulk cargo, container cargo, petroleum and cars.
The types of vessels regularly calling at this port are fishing vessels, accounting for about 30%; container ships, taking up around 22%; and cargo vessels, taking a proportion of 9%. The maximum length of the vessels recorded to having entered this port is 236 meters. The maximum draught is 10.8 meters. The maximum deadweight is 54,347t.
