Brindisi Port (port code: ITBDS) is a major naval harbour and ferry terminal in Italy. It is located on the southern Adriatic coast.
As a commercial harbour, the port is large and well-sheltered. It has modern facilities for handling most types of vessels carrying bulk, liquid, gas and container cargoes. It contains three major basins: the external port, the medium port, and the inner port. The external port covers about three million square meters of water surface and is used primarily for industrial traffic serving the chemical industries. The medium port, covering the access to the inner harbor, covers about 1.2 million square meters. The inner port containing most of the port facilities covers about 727 square meters. There are a total of 21 docks with a total length of 3.7 thousand meters.
The port handles more than 10.1 million tons of cargo and about 1,100TEU annually. The major imports entering this port include crude oil, liquid chemicals, gas, coal, grain and piece goods. The main exports leaving this port are oil products, grain, wine and fish.
