Port of Algeciras (Port of Algeciras, Spanish: Puerto de Algeciras) is located in the Algeciras Bay on the northeast side of the Strait of Gibraltar (GIBRALTAR) on the southern coast of Spain (full name: SPAIN) The West Bank is Spain’s largest container port and crude oil import port. Located at the key point between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, geographical location is very important. There are railways connected to the Spanish mainland, and there are ferry connections with Morocco. The climate here is pleasant, the beach is beautiful, there are mineral springs, it is a winter resort, tourism and fisheries are developed. The port is about 120km from the nearest airport of Malaga (MALAGA) The Port of Algeciras is Spain's largest container port and crude oil import port. In 2007, the cargo throughput reached 75 million tons, an increase of 4% year-on-year, and the container throughput was 3.4 million TEUs, an increase of 4.8% year-on-year. It is currently the second largest container port in the Mediterranean region, after GIOIA TAURO in Italy (the container throughput of GIOIA TAURO in 2007 was 3.45 million TEU). The port has a subtropical Mediterranean climate with prevailing westerly winds. The annual average temperature is the hottest at 24~26℃, and the coldest at 8~13℃. It is rainy in winter, with an average annual rainfall of about 1000mm. The average tidal range is 0.3m.

Algeciras Port (port code: ESALG) is Spain’s largest container port and crude oil import port and the second largest container port in the Mediterranean region. It is situated in a deep, natural harbour at the entrance to the Mediterranean Sea, on the west side of Algeciras Bay.
The port has three subports, namely Campamento port, Endesa port and Tarifa port. It is an important centre for handling international transhipments and direct container cargoes, also a terminus for the busy ferry and Ro-Ro traffic between Spain and North Africa. It is still growing, in both traffic and infrastructure.
The port handles approximately 69.8 million tons of cargo, 3.04 million TEUs and 4.8 million passengers with 24,500 vessels annually. The types of vessels regularly calling at this port are cargo vessels, accounting for about 52%; and tankers, taking up around 30%. The maximum length of the vessels recorded to having entered this port is 400 meters. The maximum draught is 16.5 meters. The maximum deadweight is 228,600t.
