Alborg Port (port code: DKAAL) is the base port for all trade between Denmark and Greenland. It is situated on both banks of the Limfjord with access to both the North Sea and Kattegat.
The port has nearly 4 nautical miles of quays with facilities for handling general, bulk cargo, container, Ro-Ro traffic, tankers and cruise ships. The port’s inner harbour is approximately 16 nautical miles from the Kattegat entrance. Its east harbour is situated on the south bank of the Limfjord, approximately 11 nautical miles from the Kattegat entrance.
The port handles the majority of north Jutland's imports and exports. It handles approximately 2.9 million tons of cargo and 55,000TEU annually. The main cargo handled by this port include oil, grain, feedstuffs, fertilizers, iron, crude, gypsum, pebble, general cargo and containers.
Each year about 2,400 passengers and 1,500 vessels visit this port. The types of vessels regularly calling at this port are sailing vessels, accounting for around 46%; and cargo vessels, taking up approximately 32%.
