Sittwe port (port code: MMAKY), formerly Akya, is a small deepwater port in Myanmar on the Bay of Bengal. It is located 2 nautical miles within the entrance to the Kaladan River. Constructed by India in 2016, the port is a part of Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project, aiming to provide an alternative route to India's landlocked northeastern states.
Sittwe is a large rice exporting port. Other exports include hides and salt. Imports include oil, cloth, gunny bags, dried fish and cotton. Each year, the port exports approximate 100,000t and imports nearly 25,000t.
