Through Charge

The total freight rate from the point of origin to the final destination (usually an all-inclusive rate).

What is Through Charge?

Through charge is a term used in logistics and transportation to refer to a single fee that covers the cost of moving cargo from its origin to its final destination, including all transportation modes and any related services. The through charge is typically calculated by combining the individual charges for each leg of the journey, such as ocean freight, trucking, and rail transport, into a single fee. This can simplify the billing process for shippers and help to reduce costs by eliminating the need for separate invoices and paperwork for each leg of the journey. Through charges can be used for both domestic and international shipments, and can include a range of services such as customs clearance, documentation, and cargo insurance.
