Jetty (or Pier) is a structure that is perpendicular or at an angle to the shoreline to which a vessel is secured for the purpose of loading and unloading cargo. It is a mole or breakwater, running out into the sea to protect harbours or coasts. It is sometimes used as a landing-pier.
