What is Bumpkin or Boomkin?
Bumpkin or Boomkin is a spar, similar to a bowsprit, but which projects from the stern. May be used to attach the backstay or mizzen sheets. Or an iron bar (projecting out-board from a ship's side) to which the lower and topsail brace blocks are sometimes hooked.
