Vengurla Port (Port Code:INVEN) is a natural port and was heavily used during the Portugese rule of Goa. Vengurla is situated to the N of Mormugao. The port is closed between May and September due to the monsoon season.
It is believed that Vengurla port was a busy trade center in the era of Shivaji Maharaj from 16th to 18th century. The port beholds warehouses, trading centers and markets that describe why this was the busiest port at that time.
