The port of Skagway (Port Code:USSKA/USSGY) is a popular stop for cruise ships, and the tourist trade and is a big part of the business of Skagway. It is an Alaskan cruise port located on the northernmost point of Inside Passage. It is located in Taiya Inlet, 150km N of Juneau, close to the Canadian border. The deep water and ice free port handles general cargo, containers and Ro-Ro ferries and oil tankers. It is also a popular port of call for cruise vessels. Petroleum products and general cargoes arrive at the port and ore concentrates and logging products are exported. Special shipments of heavy equipment and machinery pass through the port to the northern mining industry. Approx 92,000t of cargo handled annually. Largest vessel handled: "Star Princess", 64,000DWT.
