Sepetiba port (Port Code: BRSPB), also known as Itaguai Port, is a port located on the southern side of Madeira Island in Sepetiba Bay, approx 80km west of Rio de Janeiro. This entry should not be confused with the nearby ore exporting facility at Guaiba Island Terminal (separate entry). The area consists of several private ports specialising in the export of iron ore and steel slabs, imports of coal and alumina from its bulk handling berths. There is also a container/multipurpose terminal. The port mainly handles breakbulk containerised and dry bulk cargoes. The facilities are located mostly on the northeastern shore of the bay on Ilha da Madeira. Terminal Maritimo da Ilha Guaiba is situated on the west side of the bay. Over 4,000,000t of coal cargo and 349 vessels are handled annually.
