The Port of Rades (Port Code:TNRAD) is the main export and import platform in the country. Representing 28% of the freight traffic, it specializes in the transit of containers and rolling units. It is situated in a basin between La Goulette and Tunis. The commercial port of Radès comprises two terminals: Terminal specialized in containers and rolling units and specialized berths.
In 2019, the Port of Rades handled almost a total of 7.9 million tons of cargo, including 5.8 million tons of foreign cargoes and over 74,000 tons of domestic cabotage, of which 1.8 million tons is containerized cargo. The major cargo categories handled in the Port of Rades included hydrocarbons (970,000 tons) and cereals (642,000 tons) as well as other liquid and solid bulk cargoes and general merchandise.
The port of Radés is equipped with earthen cranes with a capacity of 125 tons, stackers with a capacity of 40 tons, reach stacker with a capacity of 40 tons, forklifts with a capacity of 32 tons. Other equipment has been imported by the Port Authority and is awaiting exploitation.
