Palembang port (Port Code:IDPLM) is an important river port handling both general and bulk cargoes including oil, fertilizer and coal. It is situated in the southeast sector of Sumatera some 100km from open sea on the River Musi. Main exports are oil products, rubber, coffee, timber and fertiliser; imports include construction materials and general cargo. There are facilities for handling containerized cargo. The Kertapati Coal Port loads barges to deliver to the offshore coal loading anchorage of Muara Banyu Asin. Approx 4,000 vessels, 11,000,000t of cargo, 82,500TEU and 387,200 passengers handled annually. Max size: Tankers: LOA 181m, draught 7.5m, 18,000DWT.
