Paita (Port Code:PEPAI) is the main port of Northern Peru as it handles 10% of freight traffic in the country. In 2014, Paita reached approximately 200,000 TEUs traffic, representing 15% year-over-year increase. Paita is situated on the south shore of Bahia Paita, and to the southwest of Negritas. The port is medium sized, exporting cotton, salt, hides, straw goods, sugar and fish products. It is one of the most sheltered ports on the Peruvian coast.
