Oro Bay (Port Code: PGORO) also known as Dyke Ackland Bay, is a small port which handles both coastal and overseas traffic and is where the wharf lies. It is located in Oro Province, Papua New Guinea, located 15 miles (24 km) southeast of Buna. The port is operated by PNG Ports Corporation Limited with limited wharf facilities. Historically, it was the site of a U.S. advanced base during World War II. It was known to have been a staging area for Allied ships, a liberty ship wharf at the southern end of the bay, installations along the shore, and anti-aircraft gun batteries in the surrounding hills. There are no wharf mounted however, mobile are available capable of lifting up to 20 tonne containers. Shippers are advised though to check this before shipping heavier loads. Prior advice and approval must be sought from the relevant Port Authority.
