Port of Misurata (Port Code:LYMRA), also known as Port of Qasr Ahmed, is one of the most important ports in Libya due to its location and developed equipment. It is a commercial port serving Misrata city and the neighbouring cities, and it has been ranked as one of the best-operated seaports in Libya. The port has become a main destination for many international transport lines. The port capacity is 6,000,000 mt per year, with a maximum draft of 11m and a total berth lenght of 3,550m. The port includes a free zone established in 1978, with a total area of 300 ha. The port receives different types of commodities such as food, livestock, containers, petroleum and oil products. The port is currently under a process of development and modernization with the objective of constructing additional berths with a total length of 2,250m, draft of 13m, to be able to receive 4 million containers per year.
