ICD Kamalapur Port (port code: BDKAM) is the biggest container terminal in Bangladesh and the only ICD in the country linked by Rail connection.
The port is primarily responsible for the collection of customs duties and other taxes at the import and export stage. It has recorded container traffic of over 95,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in 2019, which is an all-time high, according to a statement of the ICD.
The record growth of containers in the ICD is marked by a 13.61 per cent rise year on year. This achievement was due to improvements in rail tracks between Dhaka and Chattogram.
