Aberdeen port (port code: GBABD) is a busy port, a fishing industry center as well as northeastern Scotland’s commercial capital. Also the center for Britain's North Sea oil industry, it has been called the “Oil Capital” or the “Energy Capital” of Europe. It lies at the south end of Aberdeen Bay, at the mouth of the River Dee on the east coast of Scotland.
Berthing space at Aberdeen Harbor includes the Tidal Harbor covering 14.5 hectares with 1574 meters of quays with alongside depths from 9.6 to 13.3 meters; the Albert Basin covering 8.5 hectares and having 1525 meters of quays with alongside depths from 8.4 to 13.6 meters; the navigable River Dee covering 4.1 hectares with 928 meters of quays with alongside depths from 8.4 to 10.8 meters; the Dock area covering 1.5 hectares with 410 meters of quays with alongside depths from 9.6 to 13.3 meters, and the upper dock covering two hectares with 429 meters of quays with alongside depths from 6.6 to 10.3 meters. Finally, Victoria Dock covers 8.5 hectares with 1500 meters of quays at depths of from 9.9 to 13.6 meters.
Approximately 4,570,000t of cargo, 27,000TEU, 8,500 vessels and 137,300 passengers are handled by this port annually. Main exports from this port are paper, potatoes, grain, pipes and oil well equipment. Main imports to this port include woodpulp, pipes, dry and liquid bulk, animal feed, oil well equipment and petroleum products.
