Port of Fort de France (port code: MQFDF) is a small port in Martinique. Situated in a safe harbour, it covers about 39 square kilometers in area and is the capital and major port.
The port has 1,900 meters of berthing space with depths between 5.5-12 meters alongside, and a tanker and mineral jetty with 17 meters at the head. The harbour is easy to enter, with good anchorage over holding ground (soft bottom), in 10.0-22.0 meters of water. There is accommodation for cruise ships, general/bulk, Ro-Ro/container vessels and tankers.
The port handles approximately 2.8 million tons of cargo annually, among which about 990,000t are containerized. Main exports are bananas, sugar and fertilizer. Principal imports include raw materials and oil products.
