Overview:

      Madagascar port.At the southeast end, it is close to the Indian Ocean.The population is 13000.Built in 1528, it is one of the earliest trade ports in China.Mica is mined nearby.There are textile, canned meat and other industries.The port exports dried fish, mica, sisal, timber, livestock, etc.There is an air station.

      Tolagnaro Port (port code: MGFTU), formerly known as Fort Dauphin, is a small seaport in on the southeast coast of Madagascar. 

      The port consists of a small harbour and a large natural bay with safe anchorage for ocean going vessels to work cargo into lighters. It offers facilities for handling break bulk and liquid. The main cargo handled by this port are rice, maize and sisal. 

      The port handles approximately 2,000t of maize, 2,500t of rice and 10,000t of sisal annually. It has been a port of local importance since the early 1500s. A new port, the Ehoala Port, 10 kilometers west of Tolagnaro, has mainly taken over all but small cargo vessel traffic from this port.
