Almaty Port (port code: KZALM / KZALA), previously known as Verny Port, is a dry port in southeastern Kazakhstan. It lies in the northern foothills of the Trans-Ili Alatau where the Bolshaya and Malaya Almaatinka rivers emerge onto the plain, 190 kilometers south of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan's capital. A new airport nearby is expected to handle about 45 million tonnes of cargo each year. There are plans to construct a Western Europe-Western China highway with it being a transit point.
