Maersk has announced that direct booking to Ukraine from all over the world will be restarted from March 6th. This big-name carrier has launched new barge services on a weekly basis, connecting the Port of Constanta (Romania) to the Port of Reni (Ukraine) via two routes: the Constanta/Danube Channel and the Black Sea. According to Maersk, the total transit time will be about 1.5h.
Though the rippling effects of the war with Russia have hindered logistics operations in and around Ukraine, Maersk has decided to designate this route to connect container ports, trying to alleviate a customer pain point over the past year.
Direct space booking to the Port of Reni (Ukraine) would be accepted. However, the actual capacity in operation and the accuracy of documentation submitted will affect the result. The risk of shipping to Ukraine has not been eliminated due to the ongoing war. From what Maersk has stated, all cargo shipping plans to Ukraine will be carried out within the constraints of safety. The legal acceptance of the Ukraine clause should also be paid enough attention.
