HMM, an international shipping line, put out a notice about the implementation of new rules that the CPA (Chattogram Port Authority) requires palletization for all shipments through Chattogram Port.
According to CPA, all LCL and FCL shipments (no matter whether imported or exported through the CPA) set to be loaded at Chattogram Port need to be properly and correctly palletized, with shipping marks attached. For your information, the shipping mark should show details of the goods in the box/container, inform workers of the necessary precaution that need to be taken, and designate the consignee, destination, weight, size, origin country, quantity of the products, and other related information.
Such a request by the CPA indicates their determination to ensure the safe and smooth operation of the port. Besides, CPA also mentioned that non-complying parties would be confronted with legal actions. Penalty would also be charged accordingly.
This measure will officially take effect on 1st January 2023. CPA hopes to create convenience and reduce trouble when delivering FCL and LCL shipments to C&F agents and consignee representatives.
