What Is Bonded Warehouse and How Does it works

Bonded warehouses refer to warehouses set up with the approval of the Customs to store bonded goods and other goods that have not been cleared by the Customs.  

Some mistake the warehouse set up in the comprehensive bonded area and the bonded port area as the bonded warehouse. In fact, the two are strictly differentiated in the customs supervision, such as in the operation of the main body, site size, acceptance of the main body, bayonet and loadometer, inspection site, video networking, computer system and other aspects have different requirements.  

Three Types of China’s Bonded Warehouse

There are three types of bonded warehouse in China: public bonded warehouse, self-use bonded warehouse and dedicated bonded warehouse.

     Public Bonded Warehouse is operated by an independent legal person of a company in China, which is mainly engaged in warehousing business. It is specially used by various import and export enterprises to store various products for slowing procedures of import tax payment. It is relative to a dedicated bonded warehouse.

     Self-use Bonded Warehouse is operated by a specific independent legal person of a company in China and only stores bonded goods for the company's own use.

     Dedicated Bonded Warehouse is specially used to store product with specific use or special types, such as dangerous liquid goods bonded warehouses, material stock bonded warehouses, after-sale repairing bonded warehouses and other dedicated bonded warehouses.

• Dangerous liquid goods bonded warehouse stores the dangerous chemicals and provides bonded storage services for petroleum, refined oil or other hazardous liquid chemicals.
• Material stock bonded warehouse stores the imported raw materials, equipment and parts for the processing trade companies to re-export.
• After-sale Repairing bonded warehouse stores consignment parts for the maintenance of foreign products.

The management of the Goods in the bonded warehouse.

1. Goods that can be stored in the bonded warehouse:

A. Processing trade import goods

B. Transit goods

C. fuel, material stocks and maintenance parts for international sailing ships and aircraft

D. Imported and consigned spare parts for maintenance of foreign products

E. Goods that are temporarily imported

F. General trade goods that have not been gone through customs clearance

2. Goods that cannot be stored in the bonded warehouse:

A. Imported goods are prohibited by the government, such as guns and drug.

B. The restricted goods and are unauthorized that will affecting public safety, health, public morals or order.
