Ezhou Huahu Airport is the world's fourth and Asia's first professional cargo airport. It is also the first cargo hub airport approved for construction in China. After the completion of Ezhou Huahu Airport, it will form a "dual hub" for passenger and cargo transportation with Wuhan Tianhe Airport.

In addition, Ezhou Airport Expressway Project is also accelerating. The starting point of the project is at the south exit of Ezhou Airport and the end point is north of Tingzu Town, Ezhou City. Connecting Wuhuang Expressway in the form of hub interconnection, Ezhou Airport Expressway’s main line is about 13.1 kilometers, and the total investment is about 2.4 billion yuan. It will be completed before Ezhou Airport is put into operation.
