What is shipping Container
Shipping containers are transport and storage units for moving products and raw materials between different areas. In order to know better about the shipping containers, it’s better to aware the history of the shipping containers and what is ISO container.
Before the first types of containers appeared, freight was handled manually as break bulk cargo. This method required a lot of handling and delays, which was costly, time consuming and unreliable. The first standard shipping container was invented and patented by Malcolm McLean (USA, 1956). He experimented with better ways of loading and unloading trucks. And finally came up with what is now called a shipping container. It’s strong, theft resistant, reliable and easy to transfer.
An ISO container is an international inter-modal container that is manufactured according to the specifications outlined by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The ISO standardization also ensures the containers meet the size and durability requirements to allow them to stack safely and uniformly on steamships and trains.

Four Factors To Consider When Choosing a Shipping Container
1.Cost-effectiveness and safety: When you compare the cost of shipping your products by Full Container Load(LCL) or Less than Container Load(FCL), you need to take into account all the charges both ends instead of just Sea Freight quoted by your shipper or freight forwarder.
1) If the cost between LCL and FCL is similar when your cargo volume is something between 15-20cubic meters, we recommend you to ship it by FCL which is faster and safer for your shipment.
2) If you purchase products from different suppliers from the same country or region, we recommend you to use a local shipping agent to help you to do the buyer consolidation, i.e to collect your products from different suppliers and load into one container. Seabay Logistics is an Chinese logistics expert to provide you excellent services for your consolidation container shipping.
3) If you do not know how to choose what container to load your commodities, please contact your shipper or your shipping agent for advice. 2.If you have the bulk shipment to be shipped , it is particularly important to reduce the logistics cost when it comes to the most appropriate shipping plan. Your vendor might be able to provide you with the rough space or stuffing plan for the cargo, but chances are they will omit some details of cargo packaging and cargo stuffing, which will affect cost reduction and the whole smooth shipping. To get the best solution for your specific shipment, please submit your cargo information online: https://www.seabaycargo.com/request-for-quote/ Seabay professional customer service will work out solutions for you with accurate quotation.
3. Using specific containers for specific purpose: There are different kinds of containers in the market serving different purpose. For instance, if your cargo consist mainly of perishable that need to be refrigerated, a reefer container is your best option. An open-side/ open-top container will be your best choice, if your commodities are in different shapes or oversized, like some big machinery.
4.Materials of Containers. The containers should be able to protect your cargo rather than just loading them. Therefore, you should make sure whether the containers are corrosion resistant, temperature-controlled required or not, make sure the container are in good condition (clean and without any hole, ) and conform to cargo stuffing.
