On August 11, Ningbo city has reported a positive case of the Covid-19. In order to control the spread of the virus, the Meishan Port in Ningbo was closed at 3 am on Monday, leaving two days for the export containers to entry the port.

Meishan Port, the second largest port in Ningbo, China, only after Ningbo Zhoushan Port, is a 10million TEU container terminal. Meishan Port is China's fifth bonded port area after Yangshan, Tianjin Dongjiang, Dalian Dayao Bay and Hainan Yangpu. Ningbo Zhoushan port will also become the only one in China and even the world with double "ten million container class" single port, after the Meishan terminal project construction is completed in the next few years.  

At present, however, there are several the carrier's ships, including CMA CGM, Hapg-lloyd and Cosco, began to skip over Ningbo port call to rescheduled to Shanghai port,

CMA CGM issued a notice saying that cargo operations on its PEX3 service vessel "Samson" and FAL1 service vessel "Rivoli" were "temporarily suspended" until the terminal reopened.

In order to ensure the complete resumption of the shipping schedule, please note the following follow-up voyage arrangements which may be affected by the suspension of MSICT. "Melisande" for PEX3 will arrive in Shanghai on August 18th or leave port on August 19th, and then go to Ningbo, arriving on August 20th or leaving port on August 21st.  The "Kerguelen" for FAL3 followed the same pattern, but two days earlier. CMA CGM Centaurus (Columbus PNW), Cosco Venus (GMXP) and Kota Carum (REX2) will completely jump port in Ningbo.  

Hapg-lloyd warned customers that planned voyages were "expected to be delayed", while Cosco said some ships would cancel their schedule to call at Ningbo Port.

Hapeg-lloyd has issued a notice about the terminal situation and booking arrangement, among which the following 3 ships whose import and export are affected will be cancelled from calling in Ningbo:  

CMA CGM MUSCA : Voyage Number: 0PPA7E1MA  (originally expected to arrive in Ningbo, August 14, 2021)  

SEASPAN OCEANIA:  Voyage Number: 0PPA9E1MA (originally expected to arrive in Ningbo on August 15, 2021)  

APL LEHAVRE:  voyage Number: 0PPABE1MA (originally expected to arrive in Ningbo on August 20, 2021)  

The arrival of inbound containers to Ningbo is expected to be delayed.  Other ningbo terminals are not affected by the closure: CY's opening time has been shortened to two days, and Mr Haproert expects congestion and delays as ships docked at Meishan will be diverted to other Ningbo terminals.  The wharf announced that CY opening hours will be shortened to two days.  Customers are advised to check the wharf website to ensure that your shipment is shipped on time.  

Yesterday, Ningbo Zhoushan Port also issued the latest production notice:  

1. Since 03:30 on August 11, Meidong Company has suspended all container loading and picking up services and ship operations, and other port areas are in normal and orderly production.  

2. The company will actively negotiate with the shipping company according to the ship arrival plan of the latest week, reasonably adjust the ships of Meidong Company to operate in other port areas, and publish the port production dynamic information in real time on the port EDI website and E-Port Connect platform for the general customers to inquire.  

3. In order to reduce the impact of the ship adjustment of Meidong Company on other dock yards, the company will play the interactive role in the production system, and arrange each dock company to adjust the packing time according to the situation of the yard, so as to ensure the smooth shipment of customers.  

4. The company will further coordinate the field operation personnel of all subordinate ports, and make a plan for the field operation personnel arrangement after Meidong company resumes production in the next step.
