Known shipper
Known Shipper is a certified classification in the air cargo industry that designates entities authorized to transport goods without requiring additional security screening.This status is granted to shippers who comply with stringent security protocols defined by aviation authorities, ensuring their cargo poses minimal risk to aircraft operations.
A Known Shipper refers to a business or organization that:
1. Independently originates cargo/mail shipments.
2. Maintains security procedures aligned with international aviation regulations (e.g., ICAO standards).
3. Undergoes rigorous vetting by certified authorities or airlines to verify compliance.
This designation allows their shipments to bypass repetitive security checks, streamlining logistics while prioritizing aviation safety.
To qualify as a Known Shipper, entities must demonstrate:
1. Documented Security Protocols:
Implemented measures to prevent unauthorized access to cargo.
Staff training programs on threat detection and handling suspicious items.
2. Supply Chain Transparency:
Full traceability of goods from origin to aircraft loading.
Secure storage facilities with access controls and surveillance.
3. Audit Compliance:
Regular inspections by aviation authorities or designated agents.
Maintenance of records for all shipments and security incidents.

Cargo must be packaged and labeled by the Known Shipper or authorized representatives.
